Clynk Program

The funds are allocated by the executive board and this year the allocation will be 25% to be split between the 3D Charitable trust and the SON foundation; 25% to the Maine Nordmenn Scholarship Fund and the balance to subsidize our lodge events and programs. As you may remember our 2010-fundraiser campaign was the “gas raffle”. We did not reach our goal of $10,000.00 but for the first time doing anything like this I feel we were still very successful and maybe we can try it again in the future. In round figures we sold $5000.00 worth of tickets so after expenses and the payout the lodge had made $2200.00. Of this amount $500.00 was split between the 3D charitable trust and the SON foundation. Again this year we wanted to develop a program where every member could participate in no matter where they live and to include our heritage members. This year our program is as follows:

 We are going to do the drop & go bottle return at Hannaford Super Market known as “CLYNK”. Collect your returnable bottles and cans in a Hannaford  “CLYNK” bag and return it to Hannaford with our label.  They in turn will credit our account with the amount returned. This can be done in most Hannaford stores. The only ones that I know you can’t are Lewiston and Auburn but there may be others, eventually all the stores will have the program. This makes it very convenient for us and more palatable on our wallet. You simply leave off your bag at Hannaford, no waiting for    counting. The bags are sold in rolls of ten, $1.50 for a roll of large bags and $1.25 for a roll of small bags. I recommend the small bags for the convenience. Enclosed are ten bar code labels, enough for one roll of bags. When you need more I will have them at the meetings or e-mail me or call and I will send you as many labels as you want.  For those of us  who do not have a participating Hannaford near you, I will also have bags at our meetings and events for you to deposit into or just bring you Hannaford bag and we will take them to Hannaford for you. For those who have already committed their returnables to another organization, or do not have a participating Hannaford near you and you can’t attend our meetings, we suggest attaching the enclosed card to a container and deposit your loose change in it every night or your return deposit money and forward it to your lodge treasurer monthly. A third option   for those members who are unable to do either of the above we suggest you simply forward a check, monthly or quarterly, to your lodge treasurer: Herb Hoppe 24 Timber Creek Road Gray, Me.  04039   memo it 2011 fund raiser and help your lodge  reach their goal. Of course there is a fourth option; you can do all three. Hopefully no one will take the fifth option; which is to do nothing. If any member has a friend or relative who would like to participate let me know and I will get them the labels. This is something the Heritage members can get involved in also. A great way for our heritage  members to get to know one another would be to actually have a bottle drive and a pizza party afterward.

 This program will run continously As you can see if every member participates we will easily make and exceed our goal as I’m sure each member has more than $2.00 in returnables a month. I think this fundraiser is flexible, convenient, and easy on the pocketbook so I’m hoping for 100% membership participation. Let’s all take    part and make this a huge success for the Sons of Norway and our lodge, THE MAINE NORDMENN.
